BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The National Interconnected System spans most of the national territory, featuring an interconnected network with an installed capacity of 89,479 MW as of April 30, 2021.

This project specifically tackles challenges in the electrical industry related to generating renewable energy through clean methods. Moreover, it emphasizes the expansion of generation’s geographical
distribution across the network to reduce transmission losses.

The main sources of electricity in the region currently are coal-fired, combined-cycle, and conventional thermal power plants.

The hydroelectric power plant contributes to the National Electrical System by providing hydroelectric generation, reducing the carbon footprint of the electricity industry, and helping meet the country’s
electricity demand with its 8.4 MW capacity and an average annual generation of 51,150,000 kWh.

The flora consists of forested areas dominated by species such as pine, oak, and tepehuaje. The fauna is represented by species such as deer, rabbit, squirrel, skunk, wild boar, badger, raccoon, lynx, armadillo, and pigeon. In Mascota, there is a great diversity of fauna, classified into insects, arachnids, and crustaceans; birds; mammals; reptiles; amphibians; and fish.

The hydroelectric power plant in Jalisco benefits local agriculture by supplying irrigation to adjacent farmlands, thus diversifying crop choices and bolstering traditional farming methods. Furthermore,
the plant’s incorporation into the National Interconnected System delivers electricity to rural households, markedly enhancing their living standards. These plants also generate employment  opportunities, foster technological advancement, and contribute to a more efficient and stable electrical grid by strategically locating and distributing energy production.

This type of Offset/Carbon Credits are ideal for companies that value biodiversity and ecosystems: Energy Companies, Small Airlines, Mining Companies, etc.
