BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The National Interconnected System covers the majority of the national territory through an interconnected network with an installed capacity of 89,479 MW as of April 30, 2021.

The specific challenges addressed by this project within the electrical industry pertain to the generation of renewable energy using clean methods. Additionally, there is a focus on expanding the geographical distribution of generation within the network to mitigate transmission losses.

The region’s primary electrical energy sources are coal-fired, combined-cycle, and conventional thermal power plants.

The hydroelectric power plant enhances the National Electrical System by offering hydroelectric generation, lowering the electricity industry’s carbon footprint, and supporting the country’s electricity needs with a capacity of 1.73 MW and an average annual generation of 9,900,000 kWh.

Its vegetation mainly consists of timber species such as: ocelot or barcino, parota, mahogany, havillo, tampicirano, primavera, purpleheart, pine, oak, and tepehuaje. A wide variety of fish and birds, small grassland animals to large felines such as the margay, jaguar, and ocelot inhabit this region.

Due to its proximity to the sea, the variety of fish is vast, and the mangroves are home to a large amount of marine fauna, including alligators.

Hydroelectric power plants provide employment in the communities where they’re situated, offering quality jobs with development opportunities and insight into power generation.

Their existence stimulates technological growth in the area by increasing the demand for professional services and supplies, promoting expansion in specialized sectors.

Located strategically within the electrical grid, far from other generation sites, these plants ensure improved energy distribution. This enhances system efficiency by cutting transmission losses and contributes to the grid’s stability through a wider spread of energy injection points.

This type of Offset/Carbon Credits are ideal for companies that value biodiversity and ecosystems: Energy Companies, Small Airlines, Mining Companies, etc.
